Corbusier recliner construction materials
The special feature of the Corbusier Recliner is the use of steel tubing, which makes use of its material properties and constructional characteristics. It consists of two parts, the top and bottom, and the basic frame is removed so that it can be used as a rocking chair. This innovation by Corbusier shows that steel can be used as a new material in furniture design.

The inspiration for the Corbusier recliner
Many researchers have tried to find inspiration for this ground-breaking design in the Western furniture tradition, but the only connection that can be found is in the rocking chairs of Tinet, and many reclining chairs in the Chinese furniture tradition must have provided some degree of inspiration for Corbusier, as many of the bamboo reclining chairs from China that have fallen abroad are not hard to find in France and Paris. In fact he chose each material with great care, for his most advocated design philosophy was that interiors should not be piled up, but should be concise and simple, selecting the minimum of essential everyday furniture, but all of these things should be wonderful. The final choice he made was a premium leather cushion.
