Twelve years ago, under the design of architect Norman Foster (Foster + Partners), two Singapore colonial-style buildings that were built in the 1880s were restored and transformed into a prestigious urban resort , Is now the Capella Hotel Singapore.
At the heart of Sentosa Island escape are two restored Tanah Merah colonial bungalows dating back to the 1880s, from which the hotel extends into gardens and grounds framed by the sea. Inspired by Tanah Merah’s Malay translation red earth, architects Foster + Partners designed this resort in Singapore to sit in harmony with the traditional architecture and the beautiful surrounding environment. The Malay word "Tanah Merah" refers to the color of the terracotta roof of the original building. The roof is conducive to the discharge of rainwater with a shallow and elegant arc, which is equal to the height of the traditional building. Three waves are arranged in a sloping field step by step.

The 110 suites and villas originally created by Jaya Ibrahim were re-engineered by André Fu. After a year of renovation, they were reborn in deep tones and opened a new chapter in hotel room design. While preserving the original structure and layout of the suite, according to the different ways people use the space today, it incorporates the more luxurious tastes that contemporary guests yearn for. The bright suites are designed with a comfortable and gorgeous style, creating a tranquil and peaceful rest environment. The main tones are earth, sage and mineral gray. The pale green hue echoes the natural plants around the hotel, bringing the natural atmosphere into the room, revealing a closeness and comfort.
