Recently, IKEA announced that it has purchased its own containers and chartered vessels of its own to address shipping capacity and protect its supply chain security!

Svenska Dagbladet recently reported that the furniture retailer is facing extreme shortages of most of its products.

Like other big BCO (shippers) who have joined the charter route, the lack of capacity in the global shipping market is the main reason for IKEA's decision to charter ships and buy containers by itself.
